Louisiana Agri-News Network

Professional and Proven Experience

        The Louisiana Agri-News Farm Director is . . .

                           Don Molino

Don has worked for state networks longer than anyone else in Louisiana.  His experience gives him a better understanding of what radio affiliates need in the way of agriculture programming and no one keeps in touch with the Louisiana farming community like Don.  He has a B.S. degree in broadcast journalism from Texas A & M University and has done post-graduate work in broadcast journalism.  Farm broadcasting has been part of Don’s life since his early days as a radio and television news anchorman in Dallas.  Don has also been farm director of the Mississippi Radio News Network and news director of the Mississippi Agricultural and News Network.  Don is a past Vice President of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) as well as a former Southern Region Vice President of the NAFB.

I spent 4 days in Cuba, covering a trade mission of the USA Rice Federation as they made more contacts for selling US rice to Cuba when the trade embargo is lifted.

1)  me posing next to a statue of Ernest Hemingway in the tiny fishing village of Cojimar about three hours outside Havana where Hemingway got the inspiration for "Old Man and the Sea."

There are no commercial billboards in Cuba, only political billboards about the revolution and Fidel Castro and how the US is continuing to hold down the Cuban people by keeping the trade embargo in place

Believe it or not, this is a taxi in Havana. There is just enough room in the back for two people to fit snugly. It has a motor scooter engine and runs out of petrol quite frequently

These are two taxis outside our hotel one morning..a '54 Plymouth and a '57 Plymouth. Both seemed to be running fine.

Me outside the offices of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce. The President of the Chamber was the highest ranking Cuban official we met.  Fidel was not seeing anyone..dadgummit

Just about all the buildings in Havana are in bad need of repair, including paint. Most of them we saw hadn't seen a paint brush in probably 50 years.
Note the building that someone had started painting but ran out of paint and wasn't able to get any more.  Also note the laundry hanging outside the apartment..a very common sight in Havana.

Jefferson Davis Parish rice farmer Kevin Berkin,
Chairman of the Louisiana Rice Promotion Board,
explains to Don Molino, Louisiana Agri-News Network,
the rice farmers of our state donated 12-thousand
pounds of rice to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as
part of "September--National Rice Month" celebrations.
This is the 17th year Louisiana rice producers and
